Hofner Colorama II restoration project part 15 making a new nut

The old nut on our Hofner Colorama II was in a terrible state. It was too shallow and had a piece of card underneath it in order to raise it up. Additionally the bottom was not flat. Here it is: I have no reason to trust this nut at all, so I'm not going to use it as a template for the new one. So here I am sanding a new piece of bone down to the right thickness using a piece of coarse sandpaper set on a flat surface: Then cutting the bone to length: Here I’m checking it fits nicely into the nut slot: Before I can continue, I need to make up a new half pencil, since I appear to have misplaced my old one. So we take a normal pencil: Slice it down the middle (watch your fingers): Superglue the lead into place (optional, but I find it a good idea, since there’s nothing really holding the lead in place at this stage): Remove superglued finger from pencil (again, optional): Sand pencil flat: And then I usually put some Sellotape (Scotch tape) along the bottom of the pencil to stop from ...

Build a 300 Watt Subwoofer Power Amplifier Circuit Diagram

The output devices are MJL4281A (NPN) and MJL4302A (PNP), and feature high bandwidth, excellent SOA (safe operating area), high linearity and high gain. Driver transistors are MJE15034 (NPN) and MJE15035 (PNP). All devices are rated at 350V, with the power transistors having a 230W dissipation and the drivers are 50W. Having built a P68 using these transistors, I recommend them highly - the amplifier is most certainly at its very best with the high gain and linearity afforded by these devices. Note that there are a few minor changes to the circuit (shown below). High power amps are not too common as projects, since they are by their nature normally difficult to build, and are expensive. A small error during assembly means that you start again - this can get very costly. I recommend that you use the PCB for this amplifier, as it will save you much grief. This is not an amp for beginners working with Veroboard! The amplifier can be assembled by a reasonably experienced hobbyist in about ...

How to Using Diodes as a photosensor Circuit diagram

A photo diode is a PN junction or PIN structure that when light reaches the junction, it excites an electron thereby creating a free electron positively charged. This mechanism is also known as the photoelectric effect, common in transistors, diodes and ICs are made of semiconductors, and contain PN junctions. Almost all of the potentially active constituents are a photo diode and may be used as a photo sensor. The PN junction needs to be exposed to light, so to use a semiconductor diode as a light bulb must have a transparent glass, these diodes with  these characteristics can be used to measure the light intensity.  Circuit diagram of a light intensity meter with diode.   a test circuit diode light sensor List of components: D1 1n148 or any other photo-sensitive element T1, T2 BC548 or similar C1 680n R1 2M Above this circuit that is very popular, it works with LEDs, photodiodes and photo-resistors. V is a voltmeter which can be a multimeter.

build a Low Cost Stereo Level Indicator

Usually, Low-Cost Stereo Level Indicator home stereo power amplifiers don’t have output level indicators . An output power level indicator can be added to each channel of these stereo power amplifiers . As low levels of the output power are not disturbing and damaging to the people, there is no need to add a preamplifier and low-level detector before IC LM3915. But you should know when the output power becomes considerably high. Here we present a very simple, low-cost stereo-level indicator circuit for home power amplifiers with power rating of around 0.5W. The circuit is built around two LM3915 dot/bar display driver ICs (IC1 and IC2). LM3915 senses analogue voltage levels to drive ten LEDs, providing a logarithmic 3dB/step analogue display. Stereo Level Indicator Circuit Diagram The voltage levels below 1V are not important because these correspond to a low level of the audio signal. Similarly, input voltage levels above 30V correspond to too high levels of the output power, which ...

Build a Basic UPS Power Supply

This circuit is a simple form of the commercial UPS, the circuit provides a constant regulated 5 Volt output and an unregulated 12 Volt supply. In the event of electrical supply line failure the battery takes over, with no spikes on the regulated supply. Circuit Diagram: Notes: This circuit can be adapted for other regulated and unregulated voltages by using different regulators and batteries. For a 15 Volt regulated supply use two 12 Volt batteries in series and a 7815 regulator. There is a lot of flexibility in this circuit. Circuit Diagram: TR1 has a primary matched to the local electrical supply which is 240 Volts in the UK. The secondary winding should be rated at least 12 Volts at 2 amp, but can be higher, for example 15 Volts. FS1 is a slow blow type and protects against short circuits on the output, or indeed a faulty cell in a rechargeable battery. LED 1 will light ONLY when the electricity supply is present, with a power failure the LED will go out and output voltage is maint...

2012 iPhone new version at least a 4 inch display

When the new generation iPhone launches . some time this year there is a lovely chance that it will have a bigger display. The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has began to order parts for the tool, including a display that is larger then the 3.5-inch that the iPhone has used since it was released. The screen on the 2012 iPhone will be at least four inches, according to the document. About a bigger iPhone screen have been around  as long as the iPhone itself, which mounted to an amazing amount of noise before the announcement of the iPhone 4S last year. The iPhone five, as it was known at the time, had a lot of rumors about it that did not pan out, of the most prominent being the move to a bigger display. Rumors had it that the size of the next-gen Retina display could be three.7-, 4-, or 4.2 inches, though the latter was quickly dispelled. Apple had no comment on the matter, but the article noted that Apple could be making the move in order to compete with rivals, like Samsun...

Build a Precision full wave Rectifier Circuit Diagram

This Precision full wave Rectifier Circuit Diagram   provides accurate full wave rectification. The output impedance is low for both input polarities, and the errors are small at all signal levels. Note that the output will not sink heavy current, except a small amount through the 10K resistors. Therefore, the load applied should be referenced to ground or a negative voltage. Reversal of all diode polarities will reverse the polarity of the output Since the outputs of the amplifiers must slew through two diode drops when the input polarity changes, 741 type devices give 5% distortion at about 300 Hz. Build a Power Saving Intermittent Converter Circuit Diagram

Build a Power Saving Intermittent Converter Circuit Diagram. This Power-Saving Intermittent Converter Circuit Diagram switches its dc/dc converter, IC1, off whenever the large filter capacitor, C6, has sufficient charge to power the load. This particular circuit uses a dc/dc converter that produces 115 Vdc from, a 9-Vdc input; you can tailor the circuit to suit other converters. The heart of the circuit is a 555 timer configured as a dual-limit comparator. Thus, the 555 turns the converter on or off, depending on the voltage across C6.  The 555`s complementary output lights the charge LED when the FET is on. Initially, the voltage on C6 is zero, and the 555`s output turns on the FET, Ql, in turn, enabling the converter to run, which charges C6. When the voltage on the capacitor reaches the value set by R3, the 555 turns the converter off. Then, C6 slowly discharges into the combined load of the voltage divider (R2, R3, and R4) and the reverse-biased blocking diode, Dl. When the vo...

Steps AVR Programming a Best Chip

This is a complete AVR Tutorial, including avr programming in a very basic & organized way, We will go through by following items. What is an AVR? Using Mac and Windows How AVR programming works Choosing a programmer, to burn the code. Using AVRDUDE Click Here is one for Windows What is a micro-controller? The best way to explain what a microcontroller is, is to start with your computer. Your desktop computer (or laptop) is comprised of multiple parts, a CPU (such as a Pentium or Celeron), some RAM, a hard disk, a keyboard and mouse and a monitor screen. Programs are stored on the hard disk and run on the CPU, with temporary data stored in RAM. You can run multiple programs at a time by having one ‘master program’ called an operating system (such as Linux, Windows or Mac OS X) and that master program keeps track of things for you. AVR Programming Chip The AVR chip has components, too. It has a CPU, some flash storage, some RAM and some EEPROM, all in one little chip!....

Relay Toggle Circuit Using a 556 Timer

Description   The circuit below illustrates generating a single positive pulse which is delayed relative to the trigger input time. The circuit is similar to the one above but employs two stages so that both the pulse width and delay can be controlled. When the button is depressed, the output of the first stage will move up and remain near the supply voltage until the delay time has elapsed, which in this case is about 1 second. The second 555 stage will not respond to the rising voltage since it requires a negative, falling voltage at pin 2, and so the second stage output remains low and the relay remains de-energized. At the end of the delay time, the output of the first stage returns to a low level, and the falling voltage causes the second stage to begin it's output cycle which is also about 1 second as shown. This same circuit can be built using the dual 555 timer which is a 556, however the pin numbers will be different . Circuit diagram  Source   http://...
