Single Solar Cell Trickle Charges 3 To 16 V Battery

This is a very simple build Electronic Circuit Project of single solar cell trickle charges 3- to 16-v battery in-circuit.   Many battery-powered applications use very little power when idle and have short-duration operating periods. Thus, the total energy used is very small. It would be convenient to incorporate solar cells in these devices to charge the batteries. However, the number of cells needed to charge a given battery voltage is close to Vb/0.6, thereby necessitating an array of solar cells, series connected. Single Solar Cell Trickle Charges 3- To 16-V Battery in-Circuit: The circuit in the figure addresses that issue by employing a self-oscillating boost circuit operating from a single solar cell. As such, it's able to trickle charge the battery continuously. The solar cell charges C2 until there's sufficient voltage to activate Q2. This will cause the output of U1a to turn on and latch on through the action of U1b. U1a's output also turns on Q3, which begins tra...

Universal battery charger with 12V source voltage

In this post I will share about using Accu source to charge batteries that can be used on any mobile brand, or can be called universal phone battery charger. Because the battery charger using a source of 12V, the charge accumulator can also be used in cars and others. This will out charger circuit voltage of 5 volts DC, with input from at least 6 volt battery, and voltage inputs that have been tried till with 15 volts (more than it has not been tried, because the battery that tie the maximum output voltage is only 13.8 volts).

12V battery indicator level

The following sequence is useful to show the battery voltage (battery) 12 volts. Voltage level is shown with four lights led. To facilitate the reading of the led is arranged in a vertical array. Led top three chosen by the green LED while the lowest is selected the color red. If the battery voltage continues to decline (because of usage), the Led-Led will turn off sequentially from the top to the bottom. Until if battery voltage is below 11.83 volts then only the red LED that lights up which means that the charge batteries are empty. Even this red Led will die if the stress continues to drop to below 11.5 volts. The working principle of this circuit is a comparison of battery voltage with a reference voltage. Flashing LED Battery status Indicator

Signals when an on-circuit battery is exhausted 5V to 12V operating voltage. A Battery-status Indicator circuit can be useful, mainly to monitor portable Test-gear instruments and similar devices. LED D1 flashes to attire the user's attention, signaling that the circuit is running, so it will not be left on by mistake. The circuit generates about two LED flashes per second, but the mean current drawing will be about 200µA. Transistors Q1 and Q2 are wired as an uncommon complementary astable multivibrator: both are off 99% of the time, saturating only when the LED illuminates, thus contributing to keep very low current consumption. Flashing-LED Battery-status Indicator Circuit diagram : Flashing-LED Battery-status Indicator Circuit Diagram The circuit will work with battery supply voltages in the 5 - 12V range and the LED flashing can be stopped at the desired battery voltage (comprised in the 4.8 - 9V value) by adjusting Trimmer R4. This range can be modified by changing R3 and/or...

Bipolar Power supply for Battery Instruments Circuits Diagram

Bipolar Power supply for Battery Instruments Circuits Diagram. To generate regulated ± 5-V supplies from a pair of dry batteries, the circuit of Fig. 1 is commonly used. In order to give protection from inadvertent reverse connection of a battery, a diode in series with each battery would produce an unacceptable voltage drop. The more effective approach is to fit diodes Dl and D2 as shown in Fig. 2, in parallel with each battery.  When the supply is switched off, there is the risk of a reverse bias being applied across the regulators, if there is significant inductance or capacitance in the load circuit.Diodes across the regulators prevent damage. When the power supply is switched on, the two switches do not act in unison. There is a probability that one or the other regulators will be latched hard off by the other. To prevent this, D3 and D4 are Zener diodes so that ± 5-V rails are pulled up by the batteries until the regulators establish the correct levels. Bipolar Power supply...

Solar Powered SLA Battery Maintenance Schematic

This circuit was designed to ‘baby-sit’ SLA (sealed lead-acid or ‘gel’) batteries using freely available solar power. SLA batteries suffer from relatively high internal energy loss which is not normally a problem until you go on holidays and disconnect them from their trickle current charger. In some cases, the absence of trickle charging current may cause SLA batteries to go completely flat within a few weeks. The circuit shown here is intended to prevent this from happening. Two 3-volt solar panels, each shunted by a diode to bypass them when no electricity is generated, power a MAX762 step-up voltage converter IC. The ‘762 is the 15-volt-out version of the perhaps more familiar MAX761 (12 V out) and is used here to boost 6 V to 15 V.C1 and C2 are decoupling capacitors that suppress high and low frequency spurious components produced by the switch-mode regulator IC. Using Schottky diode D3, energy is stored in inductor L1 in the form of a magnetic field. When pin 7 of IC1 is open-cir...

Simple Car Battery Monitor Circuit Diagram

This is a Simple Car Battery Monitor Circuit Diagram. A close call on the road can really focus your mind on the importance of having a battery monitor in a car. I had been enjoying a pleasant week of travelling around the countryside at a leisurely pace and taking in the beautiful scenery each day. It wasn't until the final day, with the big rush to return home, that I had to drive at night. My home is deep in the country and on the road I was travelling the closest petrol station may be 80km away. I was travelling through an area that is full of open-cut coal mines and large heavily loaded semi-trailers constantly pound the roads, travelling at quite high speeds. It was around 8pm at night and everything was very dark no street lights or house lights anywhere. Just as I was going up a hill, the lights began to dim and the engine coughed. A large semi-trailer loomed in the rear-vision mirror as I pushed the clutch in and tried to restart. My speed was falling rapidly and my lights ...

Make Your Iphone Battery Last Longer

I’ve owned a Iphone for a while now, it’s an amazing phone, the best I have ever used so far. But when I first started using it, my only concern was that the battery didn’t last as much as I expected. After two days, it was gone, and when I needed it, the phone just didn’t turn ON. I used to let the wireless on almost all the time and downloading many new apps. Now that I have some more experience on how my little gadget works, I will try to share some ideas on how you can optimize your iphone’s battery life and have a better iExperience. Wireless connectivity will drawn your battery even if you are not using it. Keeping it on, it will always try to connect to some open hot spot, try to check your emails and much more. So a good idea is to turn it on when using, and after, turn it off. Bluetooth have a similar battery usage as Wi-Fi, so there’s not much reason to leave it on if you are not using it (I believe that the most common usage for bluetooth today is the headsets and car kits)....

Flat Battery Indicator

This small circuit was developed to monitor the battery in a model hovercraft. The lift in the model is produced by an electric motor driving a fan. To avoid the possibility of discharging the rechargeable battery pack too deeply, the design lights a conspicuous LED mounted on the model when a preset threshold voltage is reached. The circuit only uses a few components, which helps keep the total weight of the model down. The circuit connects to the model only across the two points where the voltage to be monitored can be measured. These also supply power to the circuit. The best place to connect the circuit is not at the battery terminals, but rather at the motor connections. The circuit is suitable for use with nominal battery voltages of 4.8 V to 9.6 V (four to eight 1.2 V cells). For example, if there are six cells in the battery, its nominal terminal voltage will be 7.2 V. A discharge threshold voltage of around 1 V per cell is appropriate, which means that for six cells the thresh...
