Fire alarm with light sensor

Fire alarm can be made with a light sensor (LDR) as in the article with the title of Fire Alarm with this LDR sensor. Principles of fire detection Fire Alarm with LDR sensor is to detect the presence of smoke through the LDR. LDR in the series Fire Alarm does not stand alone in detecting a fire, but the LDR in the pair with the light shining on the LDR. Hence, in the detected smoke from the fire then the intensity of light received by the LDR LDR decreases and eventually trigger an alarm system on a series of Fire Alarm with this LDR sensor. Part 2 that in the series of Fire Alarm with Sensor LDR are some of the sensors, tone generator, audio power. Simple Acoustic Sensor

Simple Acoustic Sensor Circuit diagram. This acoustic sensor was originally developed for an industrial application (monitoring a siren), but will also find many domestic applications. Note that the sensor is designed with safety of operation as the top priority: this means that if it fails then in the worst-case scenario it will not itself generate a false indication that a sound is detected. Also, the sensor connections are protected against polarity reversal and short-circuits. The supply voltage of 24 V is suitable for industrial use, and the output of the sensor swings over the supply voltage range. Simple Acoustic Sensor Circuit diagram : Simple Acoustic Sensor Circuit Diagram The circuit consists of an electret micro-phone, an amplifier, attenuator, rectifier and a switching stage. MIC1 is supplied with a current of 1 mA by R9. T1 amplifies the signal, decoupled from the supply by C1, to about 1 Vpp. R7 sets the collector current of T1 to a maximum of 0.5 mA. The operating poin...

Light sensor using photo diode

The light sensor circuit shows the application of  photo diode to detect the presence of light. This light sensor can be used as an intermediate circuit in various applications to detect the presence or absence of light. The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted using the preset. A photo diode , used as a photo detector, generates current in the circuit when light incidents on it. This circuit uses the photo diode in reverse bias mode with resistor R1(10k). This resistor does not allow too much current to flow through the photo diode in case a large amount of light falls on the detector. Initially when no light falls on the photo diode, it results in high potential at the inverting input of a comparator (pin6) of LM339. When light falls on the photo diode, it allows current to flow through the diode, and thus drops the voltage across it. The non-inverting input (pin7) is connected to a variable resistor VR2 (preset) which is used to set the reference voltage of the compar...

Light Sensor Alarm circuit with NE555

Reagarding this circuit sent out an alarm when its LDR sensor is exposed to light by sun or lamp. A 555 astable multivibrator was used here which sent signal a tone of about 1kHz upon detecting light. The sensor when exposed by light completes the circuit and makes the 555 oscillate at about 1kHz with transistor to drive current. The sensor is also shown in the circuit diagram. It has to placed making an angle of about 30 – 45 degrees to the ground.  Sensitivity can be adjust with P1.  This makes the sun light to flow through it to the ground and prevents the alarm from going on due to the stored light on the sensor.

LED Photo sensor

LED Photo sensor Circuit Diagram. It is not always necessary to use special photoresistors or phototransistors to make light-sensitive switches. Although it is not well known, normal visible-light and infrared LEDs will also work. A voltage that depends on the intensity of the natural or artificial illumination falling on the LED can be taken from the anode of the LED. This behaviour can be easily verified by connecting a DVM or oscilloscope directly to the two leads of the LED. LED Photo sensor Circuit Diagram: LED Photosensor Circuit Diagram Since the load on the photoelectric potential should be kept as small as possible, a JFET is used here as a buffer. The type used is not critical; similar transistors should work equally well. The buffered voltage is fed to the inverting input of comparator IC1. The threshold voltage can be adjusted to meet the desires of the user by means of the potentiometer. A pull-up resistor is connected to the com-parator output, since the LM393 has an open...

Wireless Sensor Applications using Dorji’f DRF5150S and DRf4432S Modules

Dorji Applied Technology from China builds different types of RF modules that can be easily incorporated in designing wireless data loggers, sensor network, telemetry and other wireless applications. Some of their RF modules have an additional pre-programmed microcontroller that allows direct interface of selected analog and digital sensors to the module. This means you don’t need any external MCU or to write codes for these sensors. In this tutorial, Raj from Embedded Lab talks about their DRF5150S and DRF4432S RF modules which are very versatile and easy to use for wireless sensor applications. For illustrative purpose, Raj shows how to put them together to construct a simple wireless sensor application where data from a remote sensor are received and displayed on a PC, without using any external microcontrollers. Simple Color Sensor Circuit Diagram

This is a project of Simple Color Sensor Circuit Diagram. Color sensor is an interesting project for hobbyists. The circuit can sense eight colours, i.e. blue, green and red (primary colors); magenta, yellow and cyan (secondary colours); and black and white. The circuit is based on the fundamentals of optics and digital electronics. Colour Sensor  Circuit Diagram The object whose colour is required to be detected should be placed in front of the system. The light rays reflected from the object will fall on the three convex lenses which are fixed in front of the three LDRs. The convex lenses are used to converge light rays. This helps to increase the sensitivity of LDRs. Blue, green and red glass plates (filters) are fixed in front of LDR1, LDR2 and LDR3 respectively. When reflected light rays from the object fall on the gadget, the coloured filter glass plates determine which of the LDRs would get triggered. The circuit makes use of only ‘AND’ gates and ‘NOT’ gates. When a primary ...

Line Following Robot Sensor

This Line Following Robot sensor or surface scanner for robots is a very simple, stamp-sized, short range (5-10mm) Infrared proximity detector wired around a standard reflective opto-sensor CNY70(IC1). In some disciplines, a line following robot or an electronic toy vehicle go along a pre drawn black line on a white surface. In such devices, a surface scanner, pointed at the surface is used to align the right track. IC1 contains an infrared LED and a photo transistor. The LED emit invisible infrared light on the track and the photo transistor works as a receiver. Usually, black colored surface reflects less light than white surface and more current will flow through the photo transistor when it is above a white surface. When a reflection is detected (IR light falls on the photo transistor) a current flows through R2 to ground which generates a voltage drop at the base of T1 to make it conduct. As a result, transistor T2 start conducting and the visual indicator LED(D1) lights up. Cap...
