Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Note 4 on 3 September

It is expected that Samsung present its new phone Samsung Galaxy Note 4 officially in September during IFA 2014 event held in Berlin, Germany. Now, the Korean media already have an exact date of this phone Samsung. According to The Korea Times, Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Note 4 on September 3, a day before the presentation of the Galaxy Note 3 last year. Samsung is expected to start sending invitations to the event "soon", including that the company would be a bit rushed to launch its new mobile big screen because Apple is finally breaking its tradition of offering only one size cell relatively small as the iPhone 6 to gain entry to the high-end market. It is said that Samsung is trying to get the Galaxy Note sale 4 days before what went on Galaxy Note 3 with this same purpose. It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a QHD (2560 × 1440) 5.7 inch screen, a Snapdragon 805 / Exynos 5433 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 16 megapixel camera that would include th...

The Nite Rider Lights Circuits Diagram

As a keen cyclist I am always looking for ways to be seen at night. I wanted something that was a novelty and would catch the motorists eye. So looking around at my fellow cyclists rear lights, I came up with the idea of 'NITE-RIDER'. NINE extra bright LED's running from left to right and right to left continuously. It could be constructed with red LEDs for use on the rear of the bike or white LED's for an extra eye catcher on the front of the bike. All IC's are CMOS devices so that a 9V PP3 battery can be used, and the current drawn is very low so that it will last as long as possible. Hofner Colorama II restoration project part 17 finishing the paint job

Back in this post (http://diystrat.blogspot.com/2011/11/hofner-colorama-ii-restoration-project_30.html), we applied some initial coats of paint (two complete rattle cans, in fact) to our vintage Hofner Colorama II and left it to dry for a few weeks. This is how it looked after that: The whole body was then wet sanded with 400 grit paper wrapped around a rubber sanding block. This left us with a clear view of any imperfections that were either small divots that were missed at the time of filling, or where the filler didn’t stay in place during pre-paint-application sanding. Rather than applying hundreds of coats of paint until these were filled in, they were spot-filled instead. To do this, we sprayed some of the red paint from the same rattle can into the rattle can lid, left it to thicken up for 10 minutes or so, and then applied it with a small paint brush (the paint brush can be cleaned afterwards with mineral spirits (turps) and live to see another day). The filled-in areas were th...

Speakers Play the Sound but Auto Sound Systems Make It

When you look at auto sound systems it is important to pay close attention to the speakers on the system you are considering. You will find that there are all kinds of components, pieces, and parts that go along with a proper sound system in the world of today's music systems. You need to pay special attention to every single detail along the way of choosing the system that will meet your needs, your budget, and your lifestyle with the most bells and whistles to spare. Some things that are important to remember about selecting proper speakers is that bigger isn't always better. As a matter of fact, bigger speakers are often quite inferior no matter how that might have been different in the past. As technology improves, better things are coming in much smaller packages. You do not have to have a huge set of amplifiers in order to receive not only good quality but also really big sound. I hope I can honestly say that the days of having to remove the backseat of your car in order ...

How to connect LCD Display on the Arduino using only 2 pins

Generally for connecting an LCD display to an Arduino using 7 strands, it usually breaks the leg that has any projects that remain few ports to be used. But there is a way, using an IC 74LS164 (8-bit serial shift register), a resistor and a diode, but it's not just hardware, you have to use a library. This Arduino library for connection of 2-wire or 3-wire using HD44780 compatible LCD display via shiftregisters. This circuit is considered "deprecated", but it's worth testing. The electrics part two

OK, here are the schematics for the electrics (click for bigger image). It is viewed from below. Remember that this is based around two single coils and a humbucker and that all three pots incorporate push/pull switches. The three toggle switches allow you to use any or all of the pickups at the same time, and even switch them all off, so it has a sort of muting function too. The booster is based on a Vox Treble Booster and the battery negative wire is connected to the middle ring of the output jack so that it only ever completes the circuit when the lead is plugged in (to be able to do this, the jack socket must be stereo, giving you that extra middle ring, although the actual output signal will, of course, be mono). That way you don't need to worry about storing your guitar and leaving the booster turned on. Also note that this means the battery is ALWAYS being used when the lead is plugged in, even when the booster is not switched on. The reason for this is that otherwise you wo...

Apple Launches The 4 Inch iPhone 5 – Review Price and Specifications

Apple finally launched iPhone 5, 2012’s most awaited gadget, at a highly anticipated event in San Francisco. The iPhone 5 is 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S. It is the thinnest smartphone in the world with a casing made from glass and aluminium, according to Apple. iPhone 5 will run on Apple’s new operating software iOS 6. With a four-inch Retina Display screen, the iPhone 5 allows for five rows of apps — one more than previous versions of the device, which sported a 3.5-inch screen. Apple iPhone 5 features a retina display and the screen will have a 1136 x 640 screen resolution, with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Apple has also unveiled a brand new chipset for the iPhone 5: the quad-core Cortex A6 processor, which Schiller says is a full two times faster than the A5 chip in the iPhone 4S. There are also now three microphones in the mix: one on the front, one on the back, and another on the bottom. It sports an 8MP rear camera with panorama mode, backside illumination, hybrid IR ...

Defining the problem

Before spending time trying to solve a programming problem, it is essential that your first understand the problem to be solved. read, read, read ask questions clarify anything you are not sure of try writing the problem in your own words produce an input processing output chart Designing a solution Once the problem is understood, the next step is to design a solution for the problem This usually involves breaking the problem into smaller pieces and producing an algorithm for each piece. An algorithm is a step by step process that needs to be followed in order to solve a problem. Testing the design Once the solution has been designed, it is important to check that the deigned solution actually solves the problem This involves performing a desk check of each algorithm. A desk check may involve using test input data and working through each algorithm using this test input. Implementing the solution Testing the solution Once the solution has been written the new program needs to be tested...

50W DC DC Converters TRACOPOWER with the Highest Power Density

TRACOPOWER launches the high performance TEN50 Series with 12 models providing 50W power in a 1”x 2”x 0.4 “ compact package. Today already almost all of applications require a high efficiency of a voltage conversion. When we add to this requirement also saving of space and a galvanic isolation, we´ll get to widely used components – DC/DC modules. The TEN 50 Series models feature a very high efficiency of up to 92%. Excellent efficiency is maintained in over a wide load range and no minimum load is required for an accurate output regulation. They are available in three basic groups – TEN 50-12xx, TEN 50-24xx a TEN 50-48xx with a wide input voltage range (2:1).   Low thermal losses and the use of highest grade components allow an operating temperature range of –40°C to +85°C while up to 55°C no forced air cooling is required. With an optional heat-sink this temperature can even be increased. An operation without a forced air cooling is possible even at higher temperatures – at an ade...

The R 2nR DAC

This DAC circuit, otherwise known as the binary-weighted-input DAC, is a variation on the inverting summer op-amp circuit. If you recall, the classic inverting summer circuit is an operational amplifier using negative feedback for controlled gain, with several voltage inputs and one voltage output. The output voltage is the inverted (opposite polarity) sum of all input voltages: For a simple inverting summer circuit, all resistors must be of equal value. If any of the input resistors were different, the input voltages would have different degrees of effect on the output, and the output voltage would not be a true sum. Let’s consider, however, intentionally setting the input resistors at different values. Suppose we were to set the input resistor values at multiple powers of two: R, 2R, and 4R, instead of all the same value R: Starting from V 1 and going through V 3 , this would give each input voltage exactly half the effect on the output as the voltage before it. In other word...

The Audio Video Distribution Amplifier

With the amount of equipment in home entertainment centers today the need to be able to vary the gain of the audio or video signal is needed. I found this particular circuit helpful when used in conjunction with the Universal Descrambler and a Stabilizer circuit I built for making copies of video tapes. It not only allowed me the ability to fine tune the video strength it also helped me increase the recorded audio which typically becomes poor when making tape copies. Circuit operation is straight forward for amplifier circuits. The second channel for the audio amplifier is made up of the same components except the other half of IC1 is used. Pin 6 & 5 are inputs and 7 is the output. Circuit Diagram

New The Circles A Gorgeous Round Icon Theme for iPhone iPad

There is a whole lot of themes available for the iPhone and iPad on the Cydia repository. Unfortunately most of them are actually darn ugly – like really ugly. I don’t know what people are thinking when they pay for these awful themes. As always though, there is one or two which deserve a lot of attention due to the amount of time, effort and craftsmanship put into them. One of my all time favourite Cydia themes is TheCircles. However if you’re looking for a free theme which has pixel perfect icon designs, Circles is for you. Jackie Tran (only if his surname was Chan) from Prague, Czech Republic, has released what I personally think is the best free theme available for the iPhone and iPad. It’s perfectly made for both the iPhone and iPad retina displays with the iPhone icons in the size of 114×114 and the iPad icons in the size of 144×144. The amount of detail put into each icon is really incredible – even the shadows behind the icons are adjusted to make it look like they’re floating ...

Hofner Colorama II restoration project part 6 recreating the logo and serial number

Before lacquering the neck on our vintage Hofner Colorama II, we need to deal with the “Hofner” waterslide decal and the serial number stamped on the back of the headstock. Here’s what the serial number looked like before stripping the lacquer. And here’s how it looks afterwards: The “8” is hardly visible (although to be honest, it wasn’t stamped very deeply to start with), and in fact all of the numbers are in danger of becoming almost invisible once we add a few layers of lacquer. As it happens, I have a set of number punches, but they are a different size from the ones used on this guitar, which leaves us with two choices: sand the numbers off completely and re-stamp them, or try to repair what we already have. I’ve decided to go for the second option, since I feel a little weird about re-stamping serial numbers. Here we’re using a very small jeweler’s screwdriver as a kind of punch to deepen the outline of the numbers. The straight lines are easy, but the number 8 and the top of th...
