Garage Door Closing Circuit Just using Relays

Because I’m old school, I wanted to build a Garage Door Closing circuit without relying on integrated configurations (555 timer etc) to keep it simplistic. The circuit closes the garage door after two minutes with C3 and four minutes with the addition of C2. The timer relay is surprisingly accurate (+/- five seconds). Another feature is to ensure that the garage door actually did close, such as if it’s stopped mid-operation by the user. Description: S3 (magnetic N.C.) is located at the garage door and activates the circuit when the garage door opens. RL1 is the reset timer. It’s maintained in the “on” position for two minutes by C3 while the trigger capacitor, C4, is charged. RL2 is the conduit, directing C4 to either RL3 or R1 to ground when off. Purpose of R1 is to prevent arching across contacts and a fast discharge. RL3’s contacts are connected to the Garage Door’s Momentary Switch and is sustained “on”  for a half second by C5. When C3 discharges to the cutoff voltage of RL1, ...

Open Door Alarm with 555 Timer

In this electronic circuit project Open door alarm a very simple 555 timer Open door alarm circuit project can be designed using an linear hall effect device like in this circuit diagram. This 555 timer Open door alarm circuit is based on the TL3103 linear Hall Effect device used for detecting the angle of rotation. The TL3103s are centered in the gap of a U-shaped permanent magnet. Open Door Alarm with 555 Timer Circuit Diagram: This type of circuit can sense the opening of a refrigerator door. When the door opens, a triac could be activated to control the inside light. The figure shows a door position alarm. When the door is opened, an LED turns on and the piezo alarm sounds for approximately 5 seconds. This door alarm electronic circuit uses a TL3019 Hall Effect device for the door sensor. This normally open switch is located in the door frame. The magnet is mounted in the door. When the door is in the closed position, the TL3019 output goes to logic low, and remains low until the d...

Little Door Guard

If some intruder tries to open the door of your house, this circuit sounds an alarm to alert you against the attempted intrusion. The circuit (Fig. 1) uses readily available, low-cost components. For compactness, an alkaline 12V battery is used for powering the unit. Input DC supply is further regulated to a steady DC voltage of 5V by 3-pin regulator IC 7805 (IC2). Fig. 1: Circuit of the door guard Assemble the unit on a general-purpose PCB as shown in Fig. 4 and mount the same on the door as shown in Fig. 3. Now mount a piece of mirror on the door frame such that it is exactly aligned with the unit. Pin configurations of IC UM3561 and transistors 2N5777 and BC547 are shown in Fig. 2.  Fig. 2: Pin configurations of UM3561 and transistors 2N5777 and BC547 Initially, when the door is closed, the infrared (IR) beam transmitted by IR LED1 is reflected (by the mirror) back to phototransistor 2N5777 (T1). The IR beam falling on phototransistor T1 reverse biases npn transistor T2 and IC...

555 Door Ajar Flasher

A magnet is placed on the door and a magnetic reed switch on the door casing so when the door is closed the circuit is disabled. When the door is open, the LED flashes VERY BRIGHTLY—when closed, the circuit is disabled in such a way that it draws virtually no current for maximum battery life. Door Ajar LED Light Schematic Bill of material 555 door ajar BOM How it works The flasher is the standard 555 oscillator circuit that drives an ultrabright white LED for daylight visibility. Repetition rate is about 2hZ and the duty cycle is about 10%. Peak LED current is 60mA, but average is 6mA. Since the door is supposed to remain closed most of the time, the circuit power is controlled by a 2N7000 N Channel MOSFET. When the reed switch is closed (sensing the magnet), it shorts out the gate drive signal to the transistor and turns off the oscillator. At this time the battery drain is only 9uA. Note that there seems to be no convenient way to turn off the 555 in such a way that it does not draw ...

Unlock a Door with your Fingerprint

We built a biometric fingerprint-controlled lock prototype. A fingerprint scanner is used to capture and store the fingerprints of authorized users. When the scanner recognizes a user, a solenoid plunger disengages and opens the lock. [ ]

Door Bell Timer with Adjustable Timing Facility

Yes this simple transistor circuit can be used as a home door bell and it’s ON time can be set as preferred by the user, meaning if you wanted that the sound of the bell to remain switched  ON for a particular period of time, you could easily do it just by adjusting the given pot. The actual tune  is derived from the IC UM66 and the associated components, while all the included transistors along with the relay are configured for producing the time delay for keeping the music switched ON.
